Abstract
Objectives: To investigate the expression and distribution of survivin and P53 in human non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC),and to evaluate the relationship between survivin and P53. Methods:The expression of survivin and P53 in 95 patients with NSCLC were examined using immunohistochemical methods (SP), and the relationship between them and clinicopathological parameters was analyzed. Results: The positive rates of survivin and P53 in NSCLC were 62% and 55.8% respectively, in the normal lung tissues nearby were 17% and 7% respectively( P 0.01). The positive expression levels of survivin and P53 were not associated with histological subtype, differentiation, and TNM stages, while the positive expression levels of P53 were not associated with lymph node metastases of NSCLC( P 0.05 ). The expression of survivin correlated with P53( P 0.05). Conclusions:The results suggested that survivin and P53 might play synergetic roles in the process of carcinogenesis of NSCLC, and survivin may be identified as a potential therapeutic target in NSCLC.
