Application of Indigenous Plants to Urban Landscape in Guangzhou

Our extensive investigation to the landscape plants cultivated in the urban green-lands of Guangzhou city and our comprehensive assessment to the species constitution revealed that the garden plants were very rich in terms of species number but only small part of plants were highly dominant in terms of species constitution.Moreover,the indigenous plants were poorly applied,on the contrary,the alien plants took up dominant proportion and poisonous plants were also commonly introduced in Guangzhou city.On the basis of our investigation to the wild plants in Guangzhou district,we selected 11 arboreal,6 shrubby,and 3 herbal indigenous plants with high ornamental and applicable values and introduced their features and uses,so as to provide much valuable reference for the future selection and application of landscape plants in Guangzhou.
