Abstract
This paper reports one new genus and one new species of Microgastrinae from Hunan and Guangxi. Type specimens are deposited in the Insect Collection of Hunan Agricultural University.Pseudovenanides gen. nov. Size small. Antenna of male normal; those of females thick, shorter than body. Flagellomeres with placodes mostly in 2 ranks. Pronotum laterally with only a defined lower groove. Dense superficial punctation along the imaginary notauli. Mesonotum and scutellum almost smooth, shiny, interrupted only by a narrow scutellar scrobe. Apical polished band of scutellum uninterrupted medially by a punctate or rugose area. Metanotum smooth, without setae on the anteriolateral lobe. Propodeum smooth, with a median longitudinal carina. r-m of fore wing absent, and areolet open.2r slightly longer than 1Rs, meeting at an angular. 1-Cu1 shorter than 2-Cu1. Metacarp (1-R1) very long, almost reaching the apex of the radial cell. Margin of vannal lobe of hind wing concave, bearing few hairs on the posterior part. Hind coxa large, flat in the upper side, reaching over the apex of tergite Ⅰ. Inner spurs of hind tibia longer than half the basitarsus. Tergite Ⅰ abruptly narrowed behind, bearing a distinct median groove on the basal half or more, not reaching the apex of tergite Ⅰ. Median field of tergite Ⅱ triangular, with 110° at the front angular. The transverse groove between tergite Ⅱ and tergite Ⅲ indistinct or poorly defined. Abdomen polished and smooth. Hypopygium short, evenly sclerotized. Ovipositor sheath very short, and bearing minute hairs near its apex, shorter than normal hairs on the abdomen. Type species: Pseudovenanides hunanus sp. nov. The new genus is closely related to Venanides Mason 1981, but differs from the latter in the combination of the following features: 1) propodeum with a median longitudinal strong carina; 2) tergite Ⅰ with a medio-longitudinal groove on the basal half or more;3)median area of tergie Ⅱ bigger than that of Venanides; 4)most of flagellomeres with placodes in 2 ranks; 5) cocoon single.Pseudovenanides hunanus sp. nov. (Figs.1-3) Length of body:♀2.0-2.4*!mm,♂2.4*!mm. Length of antenna: ♀1.5*!mm, ♂2.9*!mm. Length of fore wing: ♀2.2*!mm, ♂2.4*!mm. Female. Flagellomeres with placodes mostly in 2 ranks but 3 articles at the apical end with only one placodes. OD∶APOL∶POL∶OOL=2∶3∶3∶5. Eyes 1.7 times as wide as high. The ratio of alitrunk′s length, width and height as 48∶38∶31. Forewing 2.8 times as wide as long. Stigma 3 times as wide as long. 1-R1 (metacarp) 5.7 times as long as its distance from apex of radial cell, and 1.1 times as long as stigma. The ratio of r and 2-SR as 3∶2. 1-Cu1 0.71 time as long as 2-Cu1. M+Cu of mediella 0.62 time as long as 1M. The length of matasoma 0.9*!mm. Tergite Ⅰ 2 times as its widest part as length, tergite Ⅱ equal to tergite Ⅲ. Ovipositor sheath very short, only 0.1 time as long as tibia. Biology. Monoparasites of Brachmia macroscopa (Meyrick) (Gelechiidae). Cocoon single, white.
