Analysis on Effect of Dynamic Soft Reduction Technique Applied in Production of Heavy Rail Steel

No.5 caster is comparatively advanced domestic continuous caster,which is mainly used to produce heavy rail steel including steel for high speed rails.The first domestic dynamic soft-reduction equipment was installed successfully on No.5 caster of Baotou Steel,which was put into operation at the end of 2006.In this paper,it is introduced the experimental study of typical steel like heavy rail steel with soft reduction.By the over-one-year experiment,the result shows that the soft-reduction equipment may improve quality of heavy rail steel obviously with reasonable technology,i.e.index of segregation for carbon in the center of transverse section is not more than 1.04,index of segregation for carbon at longitudinal center line of casting blank fluctuates obviously less,center burst and middle crack are not more than grade one,as well as stripes in centre of rail web lighten obviously.
