Abstract
Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of nm23 gene,ER and PR in breast cancer. Methods Using immunohistchemical staining, the nm23 gene protein,ER and PR were detected in 65 primary breast cancer patients. Results 1.Among 65 cases,36 were of high nm23 expression and 29 of low nm23 expression.Expression of nm23 gene was inversely associated with lymph node involvement and distant metastasis(P0.005).The survival rate curve indicated that the patients with high nm23 gene expression had better prognosis than those with low expression.2.The study revealed no correlation between nm23 gene expression and age, pathologic types and clinical stages.3.Of the total 65 cases,33 were of ER(+)PR(+) and 16 were of ER(-)PR(-).There was an obvious difference in high and low nm23 expression between the ER(+)PR(+) group and ER(-)PR(-)group(P0.005).Conclusion 1.The nm23 gene protein has close relations with the breast cancer metastasis and the prognosis.Integrally considering the high and low nm23 gene expression and their densities,we could be more rational in judging the metastasis and screening out the patients with high risk of metastasis.2.There exists positive correlation between ER(+)PR(+) and high nm23 gene expression and between the ER(-)PR(-) and low nm23 gene expressions.
