Abstract

The adsorption behavior and photocatalytic degradation of para-hydroxybenzoic acid on nano-TiO2 in water have been studied under UV irradiation as functions of pH.The results showed that the adsorption of hydroxybenzoic acid on TiO2 particles was either pH-dependent and/or pzc(point of zero charge of TiO2)-dependent due to electrostatic interaction. The adsorption between hydroxybenzoic acid and TiO2 played a very important role in the photocatalytic process. The higher the adsorption, the higher the degradation in similar conditions.
