Abstract

The adsorption behavior and photocatalytic degradation of humic acid(HA) on nano TiO 2 particles in water have been studied under UV illumination as functions of pH and the concentration of TiO 2. The results showed that the adsorption of HA on TiO 2 particles was pH dependent and pzc(point of zero charge of TiO 2) dependent due to electrostatic interaction. The adsorption behavior of HA on TiO 2 particles played a very important role in the photocatalytic process. Increasing TiO 2 concentration in a neutral medium enhanced the photodegradation.
