Abstract
Objective To study the immunohistochemical change of NFKB in pituitary adenoma and recurrent pituitary adenoma,then study their roles in the biological behavior of the tumors.Methods Protein expression of NFKB was examined by SABC immunohistochemical technique in 24 cases of human pituitary adenoma and in 12 cases of recurrent pituitary adenoma and 12 cases of normal brain pituitary tissue.Then the correlation between the expression and the biological behavior of the tumors was comprehensively analyzed.Results The normal brain pituitary tissues did not expresse NFKB,but all tissues of the pituitary adenoma expressed NFKB.The level of this protein in recurrent pituitary adenoma was considerably higher than that in pituitary adenoma(P0.01).Conclusion Expression of NFKB is associated with the maligant progression and it may play a critical role in the recurrence of pituitary adenoma.
