Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of vitrectomy for intraocular foreign bodies in posterior segment. Methods Retrospective analysis was done on clinical records of 54 cases(from May,2003 to April,2006)undergone vitrectomy for extraction of intraocular foreign bodies in posterior segment. Results The intraocular foreign bodies were extracted successfully in all cases.Postoperative visual acuity was improved obviously. The cases with ophthalmitis or injured by big foreign body had poor prognosis. Conclusions Vitrectomy for extaction of intraocular foreign bodies in posterior segment is less damaging, accurate and safe.It is an effective method for treating intraocular foreign bodies.
