Clinical Observation of Granisetron Capsule with Combination of Invigorating Spleen to Regulating Qi Chinese Herb on the Prevention of Vomiting Induced by Chemotherapy

Objective:To observe the preventative effect of Granisetron Hydrochioride (Made in China) combined with antiemetic traditional Chinese medicine on vomiting caused by chemotherapy. Methods: By means of randomized controlled design, 121 patients were randomly allocated to two groups. In treatment group (n=79) antiemetic traditional Chinese medicine and Granisetron 2mg were orally taken 1h before chemotherapy, afterwards one times per day until the fifth day after chemotherapy. In control group (n=42) ondansetron 8mg was intravenously given from 30min before chemotherapy, 4h and 8h after chemotherapy until the fifth day after chemotherapy. Results: The control rate of acute vomiting was 86% in treatment group , as compared with 71.4% in control group ,the difference between two groups was significant(P0 05). The control rate of vomiting on second ,third ,fourth and fifth day was 94.3%,95.7%,100%,100% respectively in treatment group, as compared with 80%,85.7%,87.1%,90% in control group, and there were significant differences between two groups (P0 05). Conclusion: Granisetron hydrochloride combined with antiemetic traditional Chinese medicine has definite effect in preventing acute and delayed vomiting caused by chemotherapy.
