Abstract
[Objective] To sum up our experience of treating upper urinary calculi with minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy (MPCNL), describe our technique and evaluate the safety and feasibility of this technique. [Methods] 102 cases with upper urinary calculi treated by minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy (MPCNL) from September 2004 to December 2006 were retrospectively reviewed. [Results] The clearance was 88.23% (90/102), with a mean hospitalized stay time of 8.7 days. The operation duration was 98 minutes, the blood losing was about 100~200 mL each patient. The complication rate was 3.92%. [Conclusion] MPCNL is a safe and feasible method in treating upper urinary calculi, and should be the first line treatment for massive upper urinary calculi.
