Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the antimicrobial resistance status of Escherichia coli(ECO) in montane county hospitals and provide the experimental evidence for clinical use of antibiotics.METHODS Referring to National Guide to Clincal Laboratory Procedures,155 ECO were isolated, cultured and identified by the routine methods. The drug susceptibility testing was performed by K-B methods recommended by CLSI.The susceptibility testing results were assessed.RESULTS ECO were mostly isolated from the respiratory tract(59.4%),urinary tract(21.9%) and wound secretion(9.7%) in hospital. The susceptibility testing results indicated that 100.0% of ECO was sensitive to imipenem and meropenem. The resistance rates of amikacin,piperacillin/tazobactam,cefoperazone/sulbactam,ceftazidime and cefoxitin were all below 28.0%.And that of the other antibiotics were higher and all above 30%.CONCLUSION We should adopt the effective intervention and pay close attention to the high risk group of nosocomial infections and predilection sites in order to prevent and control the outbreak and epidemic of nosocomial infections caused by drug resistant strains.
