Abstract

OBJECTIVE To approach antimicrobial resistance of Escherichia coli(ECO) causing urinary tract infections and provide experimental evidence for clinically reasonable choice of antibiotics.METHODS Referring to National Guide to Clinical Laboratory Operation Procedures,ECO were isolated and identified by the routine methods.Drug susceptibility testing was performed by K-B methods recommended by CLSI.The susceptibility results were assessed.RESULTS The antimicrobial resistance of ECO varied from 20 commonly used antibiotics.100.0% of ECO were sensitive to carbapenems such as imipenem and meropenem. The resistance rate of ampicillin was the highest, arriving at 95.7%.The resistance rates of cephalosporins were all above 30.0%.Those of ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin were 50.5% and 46.8%,respectively.The resistance rate of trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole was 66.0%.CONCLUSION The antimicrobial resistance of ECO is increasingly serious in traditional Chinese medical hospital. It suggests that the leadership should strengthen monitoring and controlling of resistant strains.
