Study on the Relationship Between Serum Uric Acid and Coronary Heart Disease

Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between serum uric acid(SUA)level and coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods All of 248 patients with suspected CHD were divided into CHD group(182 cases)and control group(66 cases) according to the result of coronary angiographic examination.Serum uric acid were determined.The relative factors of CHD,such as age,gender,smoking,hypertension and diabetes mellitus were registered.Results The serum concentration of uric acid in CHD was higher than of control group(P0.01);With the increasing of the numbers of stenosed branch,the serum concentration of uric acid increased significantly(P 0.05);The serum concentration of total bilirubin uric acid in stenosis of two and three branchs of coronary artery groups were higher than that of stenosis of single branch of coronary artery group.Conclusion Elevated serum uric acid is a possible risk factor for coronary heart disease.SUA level could reflect coronary artery lesion degree.
