Abstract

Late Qing Dynasty was the enlightenment period of legal modernization in China. An obvious characteristic in this period in legal history is that the western culture was introduced to China, which discouraged the feudalism legal mechanism and initiated the conflicts and evolution of social legal culture. However, by the end of 19th century, the practical movement of legal modernization had not begun in China, but the road to the initiation of China's legal modernization in early 20th century was paved.
