Expression of VEGF ang bFGF in thyroid carcinoma and correlation with metastasis in thyroid carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and basic Fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) and the correlation with metastasis in thyroid carcinoma. Methods Immuohistochemistry S-P technic was used to examinated the expression of VEGF and bFGF in metastatic and nonmetastatic papilly carcinoma. Results The positive expression rate of VEGF and BFGF in thyroid carcinoma was 63.5% and 59.6% respectively, which was significantly higher than in normal thyroid tissue(χ~2=12.581, P0.01), (χ~2=12.581, P0.01); The positive rate of expression of VEGF and bFGF was correclated with lymph gland metastasis in thyroidcarcinoma(χ~2=4.025, P0.05), (χ~2=4.712, P0.05). Conclusion Both VEGF and bFGF were closely associated with the metastasis of papilly carcinoma,the high expression of VEGF and bFGF may aggravate tumor metastasis.
