Based on theme-rheme theory and thematic progression patterns,the understanding of English reading text can be more comprehensive and profound.The arrangement of theme and rheme is mainly carried out in the pattern of thematic progression.The analysis of the pattern of thematic progression can help students better understand the effect of the discourse in terms of consistency.
