Abstract

Objective To analyze the efficacy of high-dose omeprazole treatment of elderly gastric ulcer patients with second time hemorrhage. Methods 106 elderly patients with gastric ulcer and bleeding, and second time bleeding patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group(n=53 in experimental group and n=53 in high-dose omeprazole treatment and control group)and small doses of omeprazole treatment was applied, and the clinical outcomes of two groups were analyzed and compared. Results 53 patients in the experimental group,3d re-bleeding in four cases within 30d,and bleeding rates were 9.4%;11 cases of re-bleeding within 3d,14 cases within 30d and re-bleeding rates were 26.4%.The experimental group's re-bleeding rate was significantly lower than that of the control group. The two groups of patients did not have any complications due to omeprazole drug, with a few patients suffering from mild headaches, nausea, and the symptoms were gone within 4d in two groups of patients after the treatment, bleeding was effectively controlled with no recurrence. Conclusion High-dose omeprazole is effective in treating hemorrhage in elderly gastric ulcer re-bleeding patients with no toxic side effects, and can significantly stop the bleeding, protect the gastric mucosa, with a low rate of recurrence and is preferred in clinic.
