Discourse Analysis and the Improvement of English Reading Ability

Abstract

Through discourse analysis English learners can get a complete and deep understanding of the reading material.This paper introduces some knowledge of discourse analysis,such as analysis of the genre,pattern and context of a text.It also suggests some effective ways to apply discourse analysis to teaching of English reading for the purpose of improving learners' reading comprehension as well as their acquisition of language knowledge.
