Abstract

For the learners of foreign languages,to enhance their reading comprehension is,to a great extent,to enhance their ability of using all the five skills they have learned.It is suggested that language teaching in high institutions be taught from the perspective of discourse due to its significance to the improvement of the students' comprehensive skills.This paper attempts to put the findings of discourse analysis into the practice of teaching reading and explore its application to college English reading from the perspective of Functional Linguistics.
