Abstract
As an important official in the Qing Dynasty, Zhang Zhidong had made great contributions for Hubei Province, and taken an indispensable role in its educational development. He had ever taken up the post of educational head in Hubei and governor-general in Hubei and Guangdong which deepened his understanding about the imperial examination and school examination. In addition, his own viewpoint of culture and talent also had great influence on his examining ideas.
