Abstract

The Chen Clan in Lingui of Guangxi in Qing Dynasty was famous for their official and scholar members.Chen Hong-mou and Chen Ji-chang were two famous officials at their time.There is not so much study about Chen Ji-chang.So,this paper analyzes his essays in xiangshi(home examination) and duanshi(final imperial examination) and concludes that his main political ideas are the appointment of the able men,the harmony of man and nature,combination of keeping and creating,king and his officials trying their best.Learning from the past to guide the present and so on.His life and ideas show the changing of Qing Dynasty from prosperity to decline and his concerns for governing a country,which are of significance for modern society.
