Cultural Character of Mainland China's Prose in the 1990s

Abstract

In the 1990s, Mainland China's prose writing and relevant theoretical activities adapted themselves to the need and changes of entire Chinese social culture; under such a name ascultural proseorscholar's prose--usually a kind of market trademark, some scholastic writers created their illusory world to cure their mental hurt,and meanwhile lots of prose writers focused on the popular topics of normal social culture and produced some new prose concepts that could be considered as both market trademarks and literary ideas.During this process, the character of the non fiction prose was collapsed in different ways.As such the splendid group images of Mainland China's prose writers and their works appearing in the 1990s became significant metaphoric forms of a section of contemporary cultural struggles in China.
