Abstract
The optimum conditions for the color reaction of 2-(2-quinolinylazo)-1, 3-dihydroxybenzene (QADHB) with vanadium (V) was studied and reported in this paper. It was found that in a HO2CCH2C(OH)(CO2H)CH2CO2H-NaOH buffer solution of pH 3.5,the color reaction between QADHB and vanadium(V) took place in the presence of CTMAB, forming a stable complex with a molar ratio of V: R=1:2. The colored complex showed an absorption maximum at 550nm with an apparent molar absorptivity of 7. 79×104L· mol-1·cm-1. Beer' s law was obeyed in the range of 0-15μg of V(V) per 25mL solution. This reaction has been applied satisfactorily to the determination of vanadium in alloy.
