Abstract

A new reagent, QADHB, was synthesized, and its color reaction with Ni(Ⅱ) was studied. In a ammoniacal buffer of pH 9.0 and in the presence of CTMAB, QADHB reacts with Ni(Ⅱ) to form a stable 2∶1 complex with its absorption maxima at 590nm. The molar absorptivity was found to be 1.05×10 5L·mol -1 ·cm -1 . Beer′s law is obeyed in the range of 0~10μg of Ni(Ⅱ) per 25ml of solution. The method has been applied to the determination of nickel in steel with satisfactory results.
