Abstract

The color reaction of 2-(2-quinolinylazo)-5-dimethylphenol (QADMAP) with vanadium(Ⅴ) was studied. In the presence of CTMAB and citric acid-sodium hydroxide buffer solution (pH 3.5) medium, QADMAP can react with vanadium(Ⅴ) to form a stable 2∶1 complex. The molar absorptivity of the complex is 1.12×10~5 L·mol~(-1)·cm~(-1) at 580 nm. Beer′s law is obeyed in the range of 0~0.6 μg/mL. This method can be applied to the determination of vanadium in alloy with good results.
