An analysis on Therapeutic Effects of Myringotomy Supplemented with Grommet Insertion among 100 Adults with Secretory Otitis Media

Abstract

Objective To analyze the therapeutic effects of myringotomy supplemented with grommet insertion on adults with secretory otitis media(SOM).Methods A retrospective study was made among 100 adults(162 ears) with SOM treated by myringotomy supplemented with grommet insertion.Results Of the 162 ears,103(63.5%) showed clinical cure,31(19.1%) improvement,and 28(17.2%) lack of efficacy.The total effective rate was 82.6%.Conclusion Myringotomy supplemented with grommet insertion is an effective treatment method to SOM among adult patients.
