Effects of “Shenxinning Decoction” and Its Decomposed Formulas on Cardiac Remodeling in Chronic Renal Failure Rats

Abstract
Objective The cardiac remodeling in chronic renal failure(CRF)rats and the therapeutic effects of “Shenxinning Decoction” and its decomposed formulas on it. Methods The 5/6 nephrectomized SD rats were taken as animal model of CRF,which were randomly divided into four groups: Shenxinning Decoction-group,Yiqi Yangyin Decoction-group,Wenyang Huoxue Decoction-group and Fosinopril Sodium group which was designed as control group. The levels of blood urea nitrogen(BUN),serum creatinine(Scr), hemeglobolin(Hb),red blood cell(RBC),uric acid,blood lipid,myocardial enzymogram,AngⅡ in plasma and myocardium,cardic collagenⅠ,Ⅲ and PCNA were tested and the changes of myocardium in formation and ultramicroscopic structure were also observed in order to verify the effects of these decoctions. Results Shenxinning Decoction could reduce the weight of the hypertrophic myocardium and inhibit the myocaridal remodeling to some extents,which can be proved by the drop of the cardiac mass index and left ventricular mass index, reduced positive expression of myoeardium collagen as well as the decrease of PCNA positive cells. When comparison was made between the decomposed formulas of Shenxinning Decoction, the effects of the Wenyang Huoxue Decoction were better than the YiqiYangyin Decoction. Conclusion Shenxinning Decoction has the effects of inhibiting and postponing cardiac remodeling and it is proved that CRF is mainly of yang deficiency and blood stasis in pathogenesis.
