Present Situation of Gymnastics Teaching in middle schools of Sichuan Under the New Curricular Standard

Abstract
Guided by the idea of health first, there are a series of changes in physical education since the implementation of new curricular standard.After an investigation to the present situation of the gymnastics teaching in 176 middle schools in Sichuan province,the author find that the actual situation of gymnastics teaching in middle schools of our province is not optimistic in spite of the students' deep love for it and its high value for exercise.the teaching contents of gymnastics in many schools have been reduced a lot or even been cancelled(especially apparatus exercises).The paper puts forward some countermeasures as suggestions and references for the development of gymnastics teaching in middle school.
