Abstract

Objective:To compare the efficacy and side effects of paroxetine and clomipramine in the treatment of patients with refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD). Method:Sixty patients were randomly divided into two groups treated with paroxetine and clomipramine respectively for 8 weeks. The efficacy and side effects were monitored with clinical evaluation,Yale-Brown obsessive compulsive scale (Y-BOCS) and treatment emergant symptoms scale (TESS). Results:Both paroxetine and clomipramine were effective to refractory OCD,and there was no significant difference between two groups. But paroxetine was more effective to obsessive behavior and had less side effects. Conclusion:Paroxetine is a more suitable drug for treating with patients with refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder, especially for the patients with compulsive behavior.
