OBJECTIVE: To investigate the writing quality and problem of outpatient prescriptions in our hospital so as to reduce incidence of medication error and disputes and to facilitate safe and rational drug use and the correct implementation of Prescription Management Method enforced from May 1,2007.METHODS: A total of 11,567 outpatient prescriptions from Dec.2006 to Dec.2007 were subjected to a retrospective statistical analysis.RESULTS: Among the 11,567 prescriptions,1,810 were unqualified,and 84% were qualified.The main problems manifested as non-standard in prescription writing and overdose in 12.1% of the prescriptions.CONCLUSION: The drug use in our hospital was rational on the whole,but great importance should be attached to the writing quality of prescriptions.
