Abstract
Objective:To study P53, C-erbB-2, Cathepsin D and C-myc oncoprotein expression in breast carcinoma and their correlations with biological behavior of breast carcinoma. Methods:P53, C-erbB-2, cathepsin D and C-myc oncoprotein were measured in 76 cases of breast carcinomas and 21 cases of breast benign lesions by immunohistochemical stain. Results:a. The expression of P53 and C-erbB-2 oncoprotein were only observed in breast carcinomas. There was significant difference of cathepsin D expression rates between benign lesions and carcinomas.(P0 01). The expression rates of P53 and cathepsin D were increased with the elevation of tumor histological grade(P0 05). b. The expression rates of C-erbB-2 in infiltrating duct carcinoma and Paget disease were much higher than those of other histotypes(P0 01).c.Both of breast benign lesions and carcinomas showed expression to C-myc oncoprotein. Conclusion:P53, C-erbB-2 and cathepsin D oncoprotein can be seen as a diagnostic basis of breast carcinoma. Also P53 and cathepsin D can be taken as a sign of assessing prognosis of breast carcinoma. C-erbB-2 is important to differentiating histotype of breast carcinoma.
