Clinical Prognostic Value of N-terminal pro-B-type Natriuretic Peptide in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarctions

Abstract

Objective To analyze the clinical prognostic value of plasma N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide(NT-ProBNP) level in patients with acute myocardial infarctions.Methods Patients with AMI(n=98) in our hospital were included in this study.Plasma NT-ProBNP were measured within 24 hours from admission to hospotial,patients were divided into 3 groups according to their NT-ProBNP levels(group A≤1 000 pg/L,group B 1 000 pg/L to 2 000 ng/L,group C 2 000 pg/L).Total mortality and the risk for major adverse cardiac events(MACE) at hospital period,30 days and at 3 months was analyzed.Results With different levels of NT-ProBNP on AMI petients,each group presented different MACE at duration of hospital stay,30 days,3 months,and the MACE was 15.82%,29.69%,54.88%(P 0.01) respectively.Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that the plasma NT-ProBNP level was an independent predictor for incidence of MACE on AMI patients.Conclusion Plasma NT-ProBNP levels are good predictors for early MACE incidence in AMI patients.
