Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of p16 protein in gastric carcinoma and premalignat lesions including dysplastic gastric mucosa, chronic atrophic gastritis and chronic peptic ulcer. Methods The expression of p16 protein was examined with streptoavidin peroxidase conjugated method(S-P) in gastric carcinoma and premalignant lesions. Results Expression of p16 protein was detected in 47.54% of the gastric carcinomas,90.00%(72/80) of the premalignant lesions,96.25%(77/80) of the normal gastric mucosa,37.93%(11/29) of the well differentiated carcinomas,51.22%(21/41)of the poorly differentiated carcinomas,57.69%(15/26)of the undifferentiated carcinomas,62.50%(10/16)of the signet ring cell carcinomas and 10.00%(1/10) of the mucoid carcinomas. Conclusions The positive rate of p16 protein expression in gastic carcinoma is significantly lower than that in normal gastric mucosa and gastric premalignant lesions mucosa(P0.05).The positive rate of p16 protein expression in mucoid carcinoma is significantly lower than that in poorly differentiated carcinoma、undifferentiated carcinoma and signet rign cell carcinoma.
