Clinical Changes in Skeletal Class II Patients Treated with Forsus

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the clinical effects of Forsus fatigue resistant device in treatment of adolescences with skeletal mandibular retrusion.Methods: 15 patients were treated with straight wire appliance and Forsus.Pretreatment and post-treatment cephalometric radiographs were traced and analyzed while dental casts from different stages were measured.Results: During the average Forsus treatment time of 6.5 month,overbite and overjet were reduced notably.Moreover,Class I molar relationship was obtained.Sagitally,the mandibular skeletal advancement and lower incisors proclination were evident.Vertically,the enhanced lower face height was contributed by the mandibular molars eruption and the lower occlusion plane angle increase.Coronally,the width of both arches was expanded.Conclusion: Forsus appliance could achieve remarkable effects in class II patients at late growth stage by mandibular growth acceleration and lower incisors proclination.
