Abstract

The spatial variance characteristics of total nitrogen and organic matter of soil in Xinguo county of Jiangxi, China were primarily analyzed using GIS(geographic information system) and geostatistics, and the spatial distribution features were quantitatively described by semi-variogram. Based on the semi-variogram, the distribution patterns of soil total nitrogen and organic matter were computed by ordinary Kriging. The results showed that the semi-varogram of total nitrogen was best fitted by spherical model and the semi-varogram of organic matter by exponential model. The spatial heterogeneity degrees were moderately dependent, but their spatial heterogeneity ranges were different. Total nitrogen was 5.41 km, while organic matter was 9.36 km. The spatial heterogeneities were mainly produced by structural factors. Total nitrogen and organic matter contents had the same distributed patterns, which were higher in the north, but lower in the middle and south part. Fig 3, Tab 2, Ref 16
