Faulkner's unique style from the perspective of A Rose for Emily

Abstract

In order to interpret the characteristics of Faulkner's writing style,his short story A Rose for Emily is analyzed from three angles of vivid characters,unique writing technique and profound theme.The analysis indicates that the author uses concise writing style,unique structure and metaphor to create a complicated character Emily,representative of southern traditional forces and traditional values during the Civil War.Analysis of Emily's tragedy reveals the patriarchal system,slavery,racism and Puritanism.
