Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To perfect the determination method of arsenic in traditional medicine. METHODS: Diluted hydrochloric acid and artificial gastric fluid were used to extract arsenic from realgar and Niuhuang jiedu tablets. The content of arsenic in TCM was determined by original Chua’s method and DDC-Ag method, compare 2 kinds of methods for the content determination of soluble arsenic in realgar and Niuhuang jiedu tablets. RESULTS: Determination of arsenic by original Chua’s method meet the 2005 edition of Chinese pharmacopceia(a) requirements. The linear range of arsenic was 0~6.00 μg·mL-1 (r=0.999 3) with an average recovery of 99.73% (RSD=2.88%). CONCLUSION: Original Chua’s method is simple with low cost. DDC-Ag method is more accurate, lower cost than the former and it can be used for the content determination of soluble arsenic in TCM.
