A Theoretical Exploration of the Construction of a "Learning Society" in China

This paper exlpores the history of from ancient Greek thoughts of liberal and ancient Chinese thoughts on And it discusses the historical evolution of societyfrom lifelong education to lifelong learning and then to learning society. Finally,the paper proposes the following theoretical strategies and suggestions for constructing a learning society in China: clarifying the relevant theories and issues of learning society,reconstructing a universal significance of educational values,building learning stages,constructing lifelong education system,perfecting legislative system for constructing learning society,strenthening the government's responsibility to promote learning society,and renewing the awareness of the social mission of school.
