Abstract

Objective:To detect the mRNA expression of transforming growth factor-betα_1(TGF-β_1)and its receptor(TGF β RⅡ)in placentas in order to evaluate the role of TGF-β_1 in preeclampsia. Methods:The semi-quantitative method of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)was employed to investigate the mRNA expression levels of TGF-β_1、TGF β RⅡ in placental tissue of 10 cases of normal term pregnant women and 26 cases of women with preeclmpsia(12 cases of mild preeclampsia and 14 cases of severe preeclampsia),the mean density was determined by image analysis technique. Results:Compared with the mild preeclampsia group and the normal group, the mRNA expression levels of TGF-β_1 and TGF β RⅡ of severe preeclampsia group was higher(P0.05).Conclusion The expression of TGF β_1 and TGF β RⅡ was already changed at the level of transcription.the abnormal expression of TGF-β_1 and TGF β RⅡ maybe play an important role in the pathogenic causes of preeclampsia.
