Abstract
Molecularly imprinted microspheres(MIMs) were prepared by precipitation polymerization using L-2-chloromandelic acid as template, acrylamide(AM) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate(EGDMA) were used as functional monomer and cross-linker respectively. The polymer microspheres exhibited a uniform shape with the size varied from 153 nm to 509 nm.The effects of the concentration of monomers, polymerization temperature, types and concentrations of initiators on the size and the uniformity of microspheres are discussed. The selective binding experiment indicate that the imprinted microspheres exhibit higher specific affinity to templates in comparison with traditional imprinted polymers prepared by bulk polymerization.Scatchard analysis suggest that there are two classes of binding sites in the imprinted polymer microspheres and only one class in the blank polymer microspheres.
