The Design of a Metadata Management Model Based on Metadata Warehouse

Meta data is an essential component of data warehouse.This paper makes a brief introduction to the concept of metadata and describes a chronological development of metadata management.In addition,it mainly focuses on the development of data warehouse metadata managemet and repository technology and CWM Meta data model.Based on the fact that managing changes of data is the most neglected problem in the data warehouse metadata management,the paper proposes a model that is based on CWM and repository technology and can manage metadata of data warehouse.It also can traceback the lifecycle of every data element;analyze the effect on warehouse when the data source has been changed;support the joint of current data and historical data and reduce the overload of metadata conversion and loading.
