Clinical Observation on Catgut Implantation at Acupoints for Treatment of Simple Obesity of Different Genders

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of catgut implantation at acupoints for treatment of simple obesity of different genders.Methods:Sixty cases were divided into a female group(30 cases)and a male group(30 cases),all used catgut implantation at acupoints for treatment and the same acupuncture points,and were treated once in every 15 days,four times for one period.The curative effect after two months were observed,and the body weight,body mass index(BMI),waistline,hip,percentage of body fat,lipid before and after treatment were estimated.Results:The total effective rates of the female group(89.28%)and the male group(92.59%)had no significant difference(P0.05),the body weight,body mass index(BMI),waistline,hip,percentage of body fat,TG,TC and LDL decreased obviously(P0.05)after treatment while the HDL increased(P0.05);the body weight difference,body mass index(BMI)difference,waistline difference,hip difference,percentage of body fat difference between two groups were very significantly different(P0.01),and there was no significant difference between TG,TC,LDL and HDL before and after treatment.Conclusion:Catgut implantation at acupoints was effective to different genders of simple obesity,and currently it can not prove that there are differences.Catgut implantation can effectively improve indicators of simple obesity,which is well improved males' body weight and body mass index(BMI),and well improved females' waistline,hip and percentage of body fat.The improvement of blood lipids was not yet comparable.
