Relation between Treatment Course and Curative Effect of Different Types of Female Obesity Treated by Acupuncture

Objective To observe the relation between treatment course and curative effect of different types of female obesity treated by acupuncture.Methods Total 83 female cases were divided into two groups: abdominal obesity group was composed by 31 cases with exceeding standard waist circumference(WC) but normal or over weight,while obesity group was composed by 52 cases of simple obese patients.They were treated by same acupuncture therapy for three months,one month for one course.Results In abdominal obesity group,body weight index(BMI),WC,sebum thickness of upper limb(A),trunk(B)and abdomen(C,D) were lowered with very significant differences compared with that before treatment in the first month(P0.01);The change of BMI,WC and point C was also very significantly different in the second month(P0.01),and significantly different with point A and D(P0.05),but no difference with point B(P0.05);In the third month,none of the inspection index had significant change.In obesity group,BMI,WC and sebum thickness of all points kept lowering significantly every month for three months(P0.05).Conclusion BMI,WC and sebum thickness of abdominal obesity gradually lower till the norm along with treatment course increasing,then stop changing even course goes on.All above-mentioned inspection indexes of simple obesity group keep lowering significantly as course increasing,gradually tend to the norm.We guess that the indexes of obesity would also keep stable after achieve normal standard.But if it is as that still remains to be proved.
