Value of Cervical Cold Knife Conization in the Diagnosis and Treatment for Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia

Abstract

[Purpose] To investigate the diagnostic and therapeutic efficacy of cold knife conization for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN).[Methods] Pathologic findings of cervical cold knife conization and colposcopic multiple punch biopsies were compared in 126 cases with CIN,and the clinical efficacy and complications of cold knife conization were analyzed.[Results] Pathologic findings of colposcopic multiple punch biopsies and cervical cold knife conization were full compliance in 83 cases(65.9%).Conization margin involved in 14 cases,and early invasive cancer in 5 cases were found.Two cases with early invasive cancer were treated with conization alone without recurrence in the follw-up period.The main complications associated with conization were haemorrhage(6.3%,8/126) and cervical stenosis(3.9%,5/126).[Conclusion] CIN diagnosis with conization is more accurate than that with colposcopic multiple punch biopsies.And it plays an important role in the treatment for CIN and early invasive cancer.
