An Evaluation on the "Odes to A Dream of the Red Mansion" by Lin Ze Xun

Since the publication of A Dream of the Red Mansion in the Qian Long Period during the Qing Dynasty,there have been many poems on appraising the novel.All these poems are important historical materials for the research on A Dream of the Red Mansion.Lin Ze Xu had ever particpated in the activities of the Jingshi Xuan Nan Poetry Society during the Jia Qing Period and had written some poems to express his feelings and emotions to appraise A Dream of the Red Mansion and to indicate his ambition.During this period,Lin had written twelve poems on the fans to appraise the 11 key characters such as Daiyu,Baochai,Xiangyun etc in the novel.And it had only been 20 years or so after the publication of the systematic 124 episode A Dream of the Red Mansion of the Chengao version.Lin's odes to A Dream of the Red Mansion places his emphasis on the contents and the vicissitudes of lives of the characters in the novel.His poems embody his admiration and sentimentalities,and also have obtained the brevity in form.They are worth reading even today.
