Abstract

Lin Yu-tang is not a well-known scholar in the study of of the Red Mansion,but his view is worth mentioning.His major achievements are mostly collected in the book Fair Comments on Gao'e,in which he mainly discussed such questions as view of fake sequel,comments on the last forty chapters by Gao'e,Zhi-yan Study and the crooked official notice board.The major characteristic of Lin's study on Dream of the Red Mansion is his engagement on the study as a novelist.Therefore,he can obtain many different ideas from those non-novelist scholars.
