Imago of Red Mansion in the Complete Tang Poems and the Assigned Connotation in Dream of Red Mansion─Expurgation of the Mist in the Study of Dream of Red Mansion in the End of 20th Century, Part I

Since the publication of of there has been some understanding realization and an absurd recurrence in the provenance of Red Mansion and on the seeking of the assigned connotation of Dream of Mansion, as well as several outlandish wild guesses by the mystery seekers. An overall review of CAO Xueqin*ss life experience, and the 7 major evidences from a thorough study of Dream of Mansion show that CAO Xueqin had not only digested but also soaked in the Complete Tang Poems, in which there are 60 cases of the imago of Red Mansion in 9 different meanings that can be classified into 5 groups of connotations. In parallel to these, there can be 5 levels of explanation in its assigned connotation from superficial level to profound one, from narrow angle to panorama view, from realistic description to philosophical contemplation. The personae, the background, the trend of the plot, the main clue, and the philosophic pursuance can then dissolve or develop from the title of the book, Dream of Mansion. The superficial and absurd explanations on the assigned connotation of the title Dream of Mansion are therefore eliminated.
