Music and Emotion: Analysis of Hanslick's Aesthetic Thoughts

The debate between “the theory of autonymy” and “the theory of non autonymy” has long been existing in the domain of aesthetics of music. It is generally held that the former clenies the role of emotion in music while the latter emphasizes the role of emotion in music. As a matter of fact, both affirm the role of emotion in music creation and appreciation, while thinking differently as for the concept of emotion and how emotion functions in music.
