The contents of music differ from the other arts like literature, drama, and painting which describe a great deal of the specific situations of life. What the music summons up and arouses directly is emotion and volition of the human being. The expression of emotion is the basic function of music art, actually the soul of music. Perception and representation without the experience and expression of emotion is not music. With its enormous charms of emotion, the art of music becomes an intensely interesting art which can convey people s hearts most directly. The emotion of the human being bestow its eternal vitality to the art of music and also impulses its continuous progress forward.
